19 films will compete for the Golden and Silver Bears, among them one first feature as well as one documentary. Productions from 26 countries are represented. 17 films are world premieres. Eight films were directed or co-directed by women. Nine filmmakers have screened their films in the Berlinale previously.<\/p>\n
Richard Linklater\u2019s \u201cBlue Moon,\u201d starring Ethan Hawke and Margaret Qualley, and Michel Franco\u2019s \u201cDreams\u201d with Jessica Chastain are slated to compete at the 75th edition of the Berlin Film Festival. This year\u2019s jury will be presided over by \u201cMay December\u201d filmmaker Todd Haynes.<\/p>\n
Other notable titles on the competition roster include \u201cHot Milk,\u201d the feature debut of acclaimed screenwriter Rebecca Lenkiewicz (\u201cShe Said\u201d) starring Emma Mackey, Fiona Shaw and Vicky Krieps; and \u201cIf I Had Legs I\u2019d Kick You,\u201d Mary Bronstein\u2019s film starring Rose Byrne, A$AP Rocky and Conan O\u2019Brien.<\/p>\n
Two Chinese movies will also make their world debuts at the Berlinale: \u201cGirls on Wire\u201d (\u201cXiang fei de nv hai\u201d), directed by Vivian Qu, and \u201cLiving the Land\u201d (\u201cSheng xi zhi di\u201d), directed by Huo Meng.<\/p>\n
