The 76th Berlinale International Film Festival will open with the film “No Good Men” directed by Shahrbanoo Sadat at the Berlinale Palast in Berlin, Germany.
According to the report of Mansour Jahani, an independent and international cinema journalist, on February 12, the start of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival will be celebrated at the Berlinale Palast. Festival Director Tricia Tuttle and Jury President Wim Wenders will kick off the Berlinale with a festive opening. During the Opening Gala, the International Jury will be introduced and the Honorary Golden Bear will be awarded to Michelle Yeoh, one of the most versatile and influential actors of her generation. Academy Award winner Sean Baker (Anora) will deliver the laudatory speech. The evening will be hosted by Désirée Nosbusch.
Minister of State for Culture and the Media Wolfram Weimer, Governing Mayor of Berlin Kai Wegner and Honorary Golden Bear recipient Michelle Yeoh will be welcomed as guests of honour on the Red Carpet, as well as members of the International Jury, the Perspectives jury, the jury of the Berlinale Documentary Film Award, the International Short Film Jury and the International Jury of Generation as well as numerous other prominent national and international guests.
“No Good Men” directed by Shahrbanoo Sadat was produced as an international co-production between Germany, France, Norway, Denmark and Afghanistan. Production companies are Adomeit Film, La Fabrica Nocturna Cinéma, Motlys, Amerikafilm and Wolf Pictures.
Honorary Golden Bear for Michelle Yeoh
The 76th Berlin International Film Festival will award the 2026 Honorary Golden Bear to Academy Award–winning actress Michelle Yeoh in recognition of her outstanding achievements in film and cinema. The award will be presented at the Opening Ceremony at the Berlinale Palast on February 12, 2026.
Michelle Yeoh is considered one of the most versatile and influential actresses of her generation. With a career spanning four decades and multiple continents, she has made a lasting impact on international cinema.
Michelle Yeoh served as a member of the Berlinale International Jury in 1999. Since then, she has captivated audiences at the Berlinale and around the world time and again with work such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and more recently the phenomenon that was Everything Everywhere All at Once.
With the Honorary Golden Bear, the Berlinale pays tribute to individuals who have made a lasting contribution to the art of film. Previous recipients include Helen Mirren, Martin Scorsese, Meryl Streep, Steven Spielberg, and Tilda Swinton.

The members of the jury of the Main Competition of this prestigious and first-class world cinema event are: Director, writer and photographer Wim Wenders (Germany) President of the Jury, director and producer Min Bahadur Bham (Nepal), actor Bae Doona (South Korea), director, producer and archivist Shivendra Singh Dungarpur (India), director, screenwriter and producer Reinaldo Marcus Green (USA), director, screenwriter and producer HIKARI (Japan) and producer Ewa Puszczyńska (Poland).
Golden Bear and Silver Bear Awards in the Main Competition
The awards presented by the members of the Main Competition Jury to the winners of the following awards: Golden Bear for Best Film (awarded to the film’s producers), Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize, Silver Bear Jury Prize, Silver Bear for Best Director, Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance, Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance, Silver Bear for Best Screenplay and Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution.
Talks and Berlinale Awards
The festival this year presents two talks centred around Berlinale awards guests. One of these featured talks is a conversation with Academy Award-winning filmmaker Sean Baker and Honorary Golden Bear recipient Michelle Yeoh. As part of this event, the festival will host the world premiere screening of the short film Sandiwara that Sean Baker filmed for the self-portrait Residency. Sandiwara stars Michelle Yeoh and is an immersive celebration of independent Cinema.

Presided by Tricia Tuttle, the 76th Berlinale International Film Festival will take place from February 12 to 22, 2026. consisting of Competition sections such as Main Competition, Perspectives Competition, Generations Competition, Panorama, Forum, Shorts, Documentary, and the non-competition category including Special Screening, and Classic Cinema Screening.
